Suvetaeva iludus mesosfäärist / Summer sky beauty from mesosphere

Helkivad ööpilved. Polaarmesosfääri pilved, mis suvisel ajal nähtavad kesköö paiku põhjataevas. Meteoroloogiline fenomen esineb umbes 50°-70° põhja- ja lõunalaiusel ligikaudu 75-85 km kõrgusel. Tegemist on kõrgeimate pilvedega maakera atmosfääris, mis nähtavad ainult tänu allpool horisonti olevale päikesele.


Night-shining clouds or Noctilucent clouds from a Latin name. Polar mesospheric clouds, what are visible in the upper atmosphere (about 75-85 km) in the northern sky at twilight time. Meteorological phenomenon can be seen at latitudes between 50° and 70° north and south. They are the highest clouds in the Earth's atmosphere, and are visible only when illuminated by sunlight from below the horizon.
